As a survivor of the csam industry I honestly get offended when someone tries to equate the two. There are no children hurt when someone decides to write a fan fiction of a teacher assaulting their student. Plus, who decides what’s immoral? Sure, we can all agree that sexual depictions of children is bad, and a lot of us can say that for incest, less for rape, but then it goes on. A lot of people think any sexual content in fiction is immoral, is that less valid than your feelings? Why?-
- “well when people read about people doing that to children they’ll want to do it themselves” I’ve read a fuck ton of books about murder and I’ve never wanted to do it myself. “People who are already pedophiles will read it and get off on it” while pedophiles deserve nothing, thinking about committing a crime isn’t a crime. “I don’t want to read that stuff because it’s triggering” then don’t. Thought crimes are not crimes and we can’t treat them as such.
Mmhmmhm! And the thing is, like if we’re going off people’s feelings on this then it’s absolutely going to become “depictions of sex are immoral, banned!” “Transgenders are immoral, banned!” “The gays are immoral, banned!” “Depictions of religions other than christianity in a positive light is immoral. Banned!” Because some people will claim they see those as the same as csam and so obviously they need to be banned.
