Hurts to see my mom empathize with fictional characters going through similar health struggles to me, but she has zero compassion or understanding when it comes to my health struggles.

my mom always did this with other people. strangers or family. she’d see other people struggling with drugs, families abandoning them or specifically bpd and be like “if i could help this person i totally would” where was my help? i am clean 3 years and she never said a single thing abt it. she knew abt it cuz i talk abt it, even when i did it.and i haven’t had a bpd episode in almost a year no thanks to her. and she moved 12 hours away and i had no choice on where i went.why are they like this

My parents also don’t understand my mental health (I also have bpd). It’s mostly my mom and her controlling and judgmental behaviors. I was in treatment programs for 10 months because I was trying to manage everything on my own. It really helped me to see how unsupportive my parents truly are and how I need to get out. I’m moving out asap bc I need to protect my health and sanity.

i get that bpd is a hard to understand for some people but most don’t even try. esp the parents. i will never understand how parents can just not care abt their children and their mental health. i’ve been in n out the hospital a few times, once from a overdose while i was in a bpd episode. my mom never did anything to help me (i mean i guess besides calling the cops on me multiple time times. i guess it kinda helped but that wasn’t her intention). i am sooo lucky to have a dad who somewhat..

..understands me. he struggles with mental health issues and maybe it’s not bpd but he has had a lott of the same symptoms. the only reason i am in the place i am in is because of my dad. moved in with him almost two weeks ago, the house is rlly old and has a lot of shit wrong w it. like it’s not great living in a house like this but i would prefer it over my moms nice house. it’s hard but im so much happier. so grateful for him genuinely, i hope u can find someone who is like that for u..

it is definitely hard but also easy at the same time. i slipped up a few times and even took lsd to give me the same feeling (never abused lsd, more like xanax n adderall..) but i also haven’t taken that in like a year. no alc. do smoke daily still but that was never an issue for me. once i started getting my mental health under control i stopped craving drgs. do miss the feeling sometimes but ill never go back

My mom doesn’t want to understand because if she did she would realize that she may have been a major contributing factor to me developing the disorder. I’m so happy you got yourself out of that situation. I’m trying to do that now

my moms knows that she is the biggest reason i developed this. she KNOWS she just doesn’t rlly care tbh. that’s one thing ive started to realize, she genuinely just doesn’t care. nobody believed me when i said she only cares abt herself, but now esp my brother is realizing it too. cuz she’s starting to show him what she’s been showing me. i just hope it’s different for my little sister cuz they moved states and i can’t be there for her. i atleast have my dad but my sisters dad is just like mom
