My mom complains abt weird smells in the house and says there’s thick smoke that makes her eyes water but everyone is confused bc there is no smell or smoke. Then when we traveled for a funeral she complained abt it again everyone is still confused.

I fear your mother needs to see a neurologist

She’s a narcissist so if you tell her something it goes through one ear and out the other

Mine did this too, it turned out to be an issue with her sinuses. Still have no idea why she thought she was seeing stuff

We told her to go to the dr but she’s difficult. She thinks we’re calling her a liar, got air purifiers and diffusers to cover the “smell “ it’s been going on for months. When it first started, I thought she would stop after a few days. Didn’t pay attention to it. Idk when she goes to her annual physical i hope she brings it up cs it’s so annoying, it’s all she talks abt and we’re getting concerned.

Go with her and tell her doctor. Olfactory hallucinations can be a sign of very serious issues (like parkinson’s, especially if you’ve noticed things like handwriting changes, stiff limbs, acting out her dreams, speaking quieter, etc), but it could be more minor things like non headache migraines (treatable!) or a minor head injury that just needs monitoring
