I got punished for showing any type of emotion when I was getting yelled at for something.

My mom is autistic in the sounds way and she did what any unmedicated undiagnosed autistic parent would do. Can’t blame her, but I will make sure it never happens to my kids, maybe I’ll go crazy and protect everyone I can

My dad once woke me up by kicking me in the stomach across the room because he thought I, a 12 year old, tried to make him look bad in front of two random priests. Better than the time he dumped trash from a dustpan on me when I was sleeping. Good times.

Yep and now I not know how express my emotions when my parents hit me for anything 😅

Like…sad crying? No. My parents were…pretty progressive considering their own family dynamics and political opinions 😅 now, crying because I was being punished? For sure. I heard a lot of “stop crying or I’ll give you something to cry about” which was usually followed by me crying more just to see what would happen…typically being spanked 😂

Only when my aunt pulled at my sensitive scalp when doing my hair and it made me cry. Maybe other times too. Can’t remember, to many people honestly.

I was beat by my dad almost every other day once he got home from work because my mom would tell him how “bad” I was while he was gone. The worst it’s ever gotten was when he smacked me so hard in the face he knocked me out. It was in front of my mom and she didn’t even do anything. I was about 10 or 11.

It was my dad, he was on pain meds at the time. He’s gotten way better and our relationship is decent now that I’ve been moved out for a few years.

Justifying abuse is weird. You absolutely CAN blame her and as someone with autism. I’m criticizing her completely.

That’s still their mom you have to realize not everyone is at the point in healing you might be at and straight up calling them weird for it isn’t helpful

I’ll put it better, I won’t blame my mother, because I understand her and I love her. I’ll continue to encourage her how I can. I was speaking personally, there may be cases in which there should be blame and even legal repercussion on the basis of undiagnosed (but harmfully symptomatic) child-rearing practices. Thanks for coming to me defense OP, and 24 I totally hear you, I criticize my mom too sometimes but that’s my lil baby boo fr 🤤 moomoo 🤰I get mad then remember like damn wait she’s moo
