“You’re so arrogant and overconfident!” Mom I’m 20. That’s just how young people are. It’s where I am in terms of brain development. Sure I can act mature but I will be stunted by my brain’s lack of growth. Like how teens are emotionally unstable.

My mom was the same when I was 14. And I told her back then “ofc I’m emotional, my brain is in that stage of development where it is getting used to hormones”.

I’ve always been mature. However I am still limited by my brain. So despite being mature I will still show traits that reflect my age like overconfidence and big ego.

It’s also why the adult in a child’s body trope in media is scientifically false. Because if you really were in a child’s body, you would be limited by the child’s still developing brain, and you wouldn’t be able to think at the level of an adult. You could be more mature than other children, sure, but to be able to have an adult’s consciousness you would have to have a fully developed brain first.
