I’m learning it’s because older generations didn’t learn about emotional intelligence. all their basic needs were met except for the most important: their emotional ones

bro my dad is deaf in one ear and cant hear out of the other so i have to scream at him all the time otherwise he wont understand what i say when i speak at a normal volume

Omg right! Especially fathers, but as soon as we speak loud it’s be quiet. I don’t mind but that made me feel like I couldn’t be loud around my father.

they were told to “shut up” and “bury” their feelings instead of talking through them. so when we do it, they take it as a threat bcs they expect us to do the same thing they had to do when they were younger
