I have so many questions. Here’s 2: What’s the issue with the door closed? Re: meds, it seems they have an issue with you transitioning. True or not?

Also they’re so quick to dole out another punishment (feb. 24) but slow to reward (apr. 25)

Honestly OP… i really feel for you, my parents are not as extreme as yours but not particularly better.

My parents were the same way with me, only thing you can do is deal with it for now and work on becoming independent, or at least not relying on them

As someone who wants to be a marriage and family therapist this really pisses me off… how the heck do they think that that’s gonna help anything or be safe?. I am so sorry that’s awful

You should buy a pickle bucket and let the smell waft from your room! Do something that can only be solved by having the door closed!

Devils advocate: as crazy as it seems to you and unfair, unfortunately you’re under their roof so you’re under their rules. They might be some crazy rules or suggestions to you. But, sometimes there’s a reason to the madness. As a parent they have to make sure you’re able to do simple things and be able to take care of yourself so when they’re gone you don’t just crash and burn. It’s like a method to the madness. You don’t see that now cause you’re relatively young…

Would it help to find something to do outside of the house? Like work or volunteering? Something to keep you away from them for the majority of the day.

That’s completely reasonable depending on the events leading up to this. Idk why they have to coerce u into taking ur meds unless there have been problems with that in the past

Idk big dawg. They legitimately laugh at me in therapy. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out not to do that

And with the whole medication thing, there is a secondary problem of I am a transgender woman if I don’t get access to my hormones, my body kind of freaks out because it’s been used to it for 2 1/2 years for now it’s really fun to possibly have to play games with my hormones

I take my meds! They just don’t like that I take them out of the bottle as opposed to a pill organizer…. It’s petty shit. I’m transitioning so my desire to have a successful transition is more than enough to take my meds they just don’t like how I do it…

Just the bucket works! I have a pickle bucket and it smells strongly of pickles even after sometime.

They’d just get mad at a “food container” The whole I’m gonna do a thing they don’t like so they stop won’t work cuz they will just fuck with me another way and I’ll suffer 2 ways but with pickle smell

Taking away a person’s privacy, even threatening to, is completely UNreasonable, and also it is unethical to medicate through force

But in all honesty what is your other choice? To move out and be responsible for every little thing in your life including your mental health and the ability to afford medicine? I know it’s a lot and it might suck, but they might not be doing it to be dicks about it. Just tough love.

Also, to people talking shit about her age and living with her parents. Fuck off, that’s probably the most intelligent thing she can do right now and focus on saving up. Do you not see what rent is out there vs what we get paid?! It’s crazy.

that kind of surveillance is more likely to stifle independence

Seems more like pushing habits on her rather than trying to surveil her. Unless, and please don’t answer this here op. But unless she’s tried to sh or meet her maker. Then the surveillance becomes imperative.

Also can I say, devils advocate doesn’t mean I agree with them. It’s just giving the possible opposing view. It’s not meant to put anyone down or deny what someone feels. It’s to have a broader more generalized discussion and view point. Seeing the whole picture rather than a certain point of view. Was no need to downvote or upvote.

Tbh, u need to ask yourself: “Does the devil really need an advocate here?” and “Am I really the best person to do such advocacy?” You’ll find the answers to both are no

Also, ppl have a right to do with their bodies what they wish. Something making you uncomfortable is not an indication that that something is wrong and must be stopped
