my dad crashed out one time because i wouldnt let him take my ballot and vote how he wanted for the special election. for context, i was not in posession of my ballot (at college) and i politely asked him to toss my ballot bc i wouldn’t have been able to vote. my entire family was against me and my dad was screaming at me over the phone loud enough for the neighbors to hear
You have no idea who I am or what I support. This isn’t about whether or not that is terrorism. If anyone is deflecting it is you. This is about how anyone that is not white in America (especially if they’re Muslim) are grouped and labeled as violent or a terrorist. Not because of their actions but because of prejudice. If you want to claim that’s not true, open your eyes to the world around you instead of drowning out reality with the headphones of biases and indoctrination.
Congratulations. You as a singular person have not experienced what millions have. How lucky you are. In order to understand others you have to take yourself out of the equation and LISTEN. It’s not about you or me. It’s about people. People that have repeatedly experienced hate and vitriol from this country. You cannot denounce the struggles of others just by saying “I don’t believe it to be true” or “it hasn’t happened to me”
