Possible hot take: This community has gotten really fucking weird about Lando and it’s borderline disturbing. He wasn’t my favorite for the WDC either but my god you people act like he’s committed unforgivable war crimes.

hes a good driver but hasnt always been a great guy. people can respect his ability to perform but you gotta also understand people want to cheer for someone who respects their opponents

I’d be shocked if the majority of our current drivers are good guys. But a lot of the hate he gets is an anti-parasocial hive mind, yes, I said the magic word. I mean it. If anyone really tries to call it out, omg. It’s so obvious that very few people here understand the drama of pro sports. If these guys can’t handle Lando, fuck don’t introduce them to the big three, soccer, hockey, boxing or nascar. Cuz they make Lando look like a chill dude.

its not parasocial for not wanting to support someone who says sexist, horrible things and complains rudely about other WDC champions winning. just be respectful . just congratulation them. As for other sports, its not a surprising thing that people dont like certain players for how they act. I’m a huge hockey fan too. Don’t like M. Tkachuk cause hes a misogynist as well. He’s a good player, but he says things he shouldnt. Sure, hockey is full of racists and misogynists, but at least their PR
