Not the OP but I think it comes from the mindset of loving the sport because the drivers are hot men who people equate to kpop idols, having parasocial relationships with the drivers. Personally I’m against that kind of behavior, especially when it’s so mf unhealthy + it’s a shallow fanbase if we’re only watching because of one driver instead of the sport itself.

That being said, enjoy the sport however you want but everyone needs to remember that we all watch this sport for different reasons. My love for the racecraft and another’s love for the drivers help create a vibrant fan community. HOWEVER y’all have to remember that f1 is NEVER that serious and that it’s okay for others to like/dislike drivers and that putting down others is just as unhealthy as the parasocial fans.
