Theres absolutely no water nearby within miles and its right outside of a dorm so im assuming its a pet

it looks a little too healthy to really be a pet, and definitely too large. I’d recommend calling local DNR or wildlife rehabbers to relocate it, as this is a beautiful species!

sometimes softshells will travel long distances for nest sites, selecting sandy areas. arterial roadway ditches can also be habitats to these large turtles, even if it is a not-so-great one.
