“before white men came it was said that a squirrel could travel from Charleston to the Mississippi and not touch the ground, jumping from tree to tree” - an old white guy I met in ArkansasHa just stop, im a BS in ENSC student. I already know all that you will try to say, it has been shoved down our throat enough times by the woke mcgraw hill type school curriculum. I have done my own research on history though, native americans were not the tree hugging pacifist’s that you have been taught about
The Mississippians were a very advanced society with complex trade networks extending all the way to Mexico and Canada along with societal structures. People only see them as lesser to Europeans because Europeans had horses and draft animals which GREATLY sped up tech advancement. The very fact that the natives were able to found large cities like Cahokia and build earthen mounds all over the south defines them as an advanced civilization. It’s proven that corn was grown at scale.
The density of forests throughout the south remained largely unchanged since forest paths were used for trade networks. It was modified slightly to accommodate these paths but nothing compared to the industrialized society that had axes. There was some deforestation occurring in the Midwest around cities like Cahokia which used large amounts of wood for fire and construction but the south except for a few small cities and villages remained densely forested
All humans have the same intellect. Northern Europe was also covered by thick forest from France all the way to Russia. Even with more advanced tech these forests didn’t start to be widely cleared until the Germanic and Roman times. Would you call the pre-Roman Celtic tribes an inferior people too?
atp ur prolly just a troll or mentally slow, go to Cahokia IL or Spiro OK or Greenville MS for the evidence of everything I just said. Hell one of ur favorite European explorers Hernando de Soto wrote about this advanced civilization with farming and trade. Unfortunately his expedition introduced wild hogs and smallpox which spread through these trade networks and wiped out the advanced societies
imo you can only make natural conclusions from this. Those areas have been roughly that diverse for time in memorial. You have to think of the environment which is why I wondered what made that area of Florida special. It looks like a sick forest. Better than the alley of the baobabs probably
