At one point does research become unethical? For example I want to study cetaceans but boats in general disturb their natural life. Same with say an atv in the jungle. You know what I mean?

with stuff like this, any level of research does disturb animals, either by being around them or introducing something new but as long as it doesn’t harm them too significantly (i.e. killing them or destroying their habitat, etc.) i think there’s so much more to be gained with mild disturbances. we know so much more about how to help them and keep them healthy for the future, even if in the moment it’s something unusual for them, i think it’s worth it overall to know more about saving them

You can’t stop progress, sounds like you’re planning a canoe trip
