Or even when just smoking outside, why is there no shame about throwing it on the ground? Everywhere I walk there’s cigarettes littered everywhere and we are all just used to it.

I live in a fairly eco conscious place and there’s STILL so much trash everywhere, especially by the creek… if you ever have a chance… do some creek cleanups! We need more people out there keeping our water ways clean!

i have personally walked up to someone who threw their cigarette at a state park and just said “excuse me!! excuse me, you have a trash can right there! it would be responsible of you to put the cigarette butt in the trash recepticle!” and they picked it up, stared at me, and got into their car with the butt instead of throwing it away… then his wife stared at me from inside the car. i just gave them both a thumbs up, a wave, and a smile. 🤷🏼‍♀️

it’s safer to put them out on the ground to not catch a fire compared to throwing them in the trash. that being said i guess you could put them in the trash after putting them out if there’s one around. people just go for whatever’s closest because it’s usually still lit when the filter’s almost done. pretty much nowhere is smoker friendly or provides anywhere to throw cigs out effectively and safely so ppl resort for the ground. the people who smoke in their car are a different breed jfc 😭😭

i’ve always kept the wrapper for my gum so i can throw it out later and found out that there’s a large amount of people who don’t do that 💀 god in class beneath literally any table i’ve never understood why someone can’t just throw it out
