It breaks my heart to see almost sentient beings like octopuses being killed and eaten en masse humans love to dominate any other species they see. If we discover an alien planet I guarantee humans will commit large scale genocide just to stuff our faces

every animal is sentient. to live is to constantly decide your life is worth sustaining by ending the lives of others, including plants.

To sustain ourselves ending the lives of plants is unfortunate inevitable, but vast majority of crops grown and plants killed are for animal feed for animals which get killed
