Maybe a bit off topic but I feel like environmental baddies would know about / care about animal welfare. I’m a bit lonely living by myself and would like a pet, I grew up with a dog and miss the company. How can I do this responsibly if I need to travel-

Pretty frequently? I have to do 5 hour drives every other week or so and I’m gone from my apartment for a few days each time. Also small apartment with no yard so I don’t think I could have a dog even though I’d love one. Are some cats able to deal with this lifestyle? Or would something else be happy/healthy doing this? Any suggestions would be so appreciated 🫶

I’m in the same situation. I feel like my options are very independent cat, with automatic feeder/litterbox or snake that I only have to feed once a month

it depends on the individual animal ofc but if you get a more chill cat then it might be okay for a couple days if you have someone who can take care of food/litter or get automatic machines? i dont know a whole lot about cats though so i could be wrong

very much would depend on the cat. mine is very needy and l can barely leave her for 12-24 hours without her getting anxious. try a humane society that does pet matching with applications. they’re usually pretty good with making sure cats go to forever homes with the right personality matches, and you can explain your situation. A shelter or humane society will probably have the perfect aloof & lazy cat for you. This does mean automated feeders are a must though too!
