we need to address how bad ecosia is in terms of quality. you can turn off ai overview, sure, but most of the image search results are ai, and the websites are always blogs that stink of gpt, no reliable sites.

like i’m looking up how to tell the difference between a banded water snake and a cottonmouth and it’s only bringing up websites that are completely ai generated or so ad ridden that the page crashes

Is safari a better option than google? Is it better or worst than Ecostia?

I’ve heard of the search engine(?) Lilo where you get water drops for searing which then you can use to pick what project you wanna support! Now sure how good it is but you can also turn off AI and on the FAQs page it’s says they work with Bing & yellow pages, 80% of their revenue goes to nonprofits, and their committed to a voluntary carbon neutrality approach👍

I like duck duck go!! You can block the AI bs with a simple toggle option in settings and it still pulls up reliable info and webpages for all your searches just like Google did. And it blocks trackers who wanna use your data for ads. There’s always unfortunately ai generated images popping up nowadays and idk if there’s really a way to stop that at all but most of DuckDuckGo’s content is good. I used it to research about dozens of minerals for a class I took last semester!

It has its own app on mobile and computers, but it can also be an extension although I don’t know how much better it is to use an extension if you’re still on the google chrome app/webpage thing

So far my only complaint is that sometimes things will be in French because it’s run by a French company or something like that, but it can be very easily switched to English

safari is a browser (chrome, firefox, internet explorer-rip are also all browsers) google is a search engine, and so are sites like duckduckgo, bing, and yahoo. you need both. i personally use firefox + duckduckgo.

I also recommend DuckDuckGo, I've been using them for years!

I have quite a few identifiers to differentiate them. I also posted a infographic to help. If you’d like more I’m more than happy to talk :) I love snakes and education / identification surrounding them.
