Both sides are bad. It isn’t a right vs left issue anymore. It’s all about who has money and who’s willing to take the bribe. There’s more money in getting paid off to vote in favor of large corporations and (usually) environmental destruction. Our entire government no matter their party affiliation is corrupt and greedy and unless we get rid of them and vote in new DESERVING people it’s never going to change.
It’s important to have some nuance, countries with socialist stances like Vietnam continue to ramp up their coal industries. It’s simply because they have a lot of coal and they’re proud of it. Their coal miners unions remain strong and resistant to change and tbh there’s nothing wrong with that. From a socialist standpoint why should they invest in environmental policies that upset this balance?
I appreciate that perspective for sure, but I do think that the system that prioritizes profits will not allow this to happen with the environment, as we have seen the shrinking of protected lands for the sake of profit. I love your perspective and passion tho and I think what you are saying is well guided:)
Social and national values are also very important, a society and nation that has in its values to protect the environment will protect it regardless of what economic system they use. From liberal capitalist democracies in Europe to hardcore communist and fascist autocracies like Nazi Germany and the Soviets protecting environmental land because environmental purity was a nationalist value.
