Seattle is a cool city and I like being able to commute to Seattle and every place I went to in Seattle today without having to rely on a car. As a visibly queer person I do need to be careful about what places I go exploring in, and Seattle is one of the safer places that has lots of cool nature in the city
I live only a 3 hour train ride from Seattle and it’s way more accessible for me to get to the Seattle area as someone that lives car-free. I know it’s very popular to hate on Seattle(especially from Portland people) but it’s actually not a bad place and there’s tons of nature around.
Also people that are visibly trans have more safety concerns to worry about safety wise. I like going where im familiar with around this. I already experience weird micro aggressions when I go explore areas outside of Portland, so I do prefer to go somewhere that I’m familiar with.
Yeah for sure! Sorry if i came off aggro at first, i just looove the salish sea and there are so many good spots on it. Im also very visibly trans. Bham has the biggest trans presence outside of seattle and olympia ive ever seen. I recimmend olympia and bellingham for future train trips! Theyre on the cascade route and going north of sea on the amtrak is stupid gorgeous
Bellingham is a super far trip though and as a disabled person I’m not really able to safely do that trip as someone that lives car free. Bellingham is way farther from Portland than Seattle is. I just don’t like when people shit on places that people enjoy. Seattle is a cool place and the nature is just as good. I went through Olympia on the train but it’s not what I’m looking for. I love being in the Seattle area. The nature in Seattle isnt “mid”
That makes sense, it is further but as someone who is also disabled and car free i get by just fine (not assuming u would too, just saying there is relatively accessible public transit). What i was getting at by mid is that its polluted and busy and dont even get me started on the duwamish "estuary"
