Just saw a post taking about how good it is for cats to go outside but I’m also aware of cats being a big threat to wildlife/birds. So is it really that good/beneficial for cats to be outside?

Cats are the number one invasive species. If you want your cat outside build them a catio, or a set of like chicken run pen around a back yard. Or leash train it for walks. Do not just let it out

it shortens their lifespan significantly when cats are allowed to be free range outdoors (leash training and catios do not have this effect)

as for their behavior, my mom's cats are much more well behaved when they get outside time. She doesn't care that it shortens their lifespan or damages the environment to let them loose, but I leash trained them and take them on walks when I'm around. They don't fight with eachother and they're more patient towards people when they've had time outside, and they love the extra attention from being on a leash.
