group is gonna start a new campaign january and im playing my first artificer which also my first non-caster (i’ve played a cleric, a sorcerer, and a wizard). does anyone have tips for how to creatively use mechanics + what to do in combat?

Play a fighter - unironically playing a martial class requires more creativity and outside the box thinking than as a spellcaster. Take proficiency in athletics and use the environment to your advantage

I’ve been playing artificer in my campaign for the past 2 years. Definitely make sure your first two infusions are bag of holding and homunculus servant. If you’re gonna be a gunslinger try to get more spells aimed at distance or support. But it’s really fun especially when you get to higher levels and can do more with your infusions and support
