They said they needed to “get supplies” which was bs since it was the first session and they should have everything they needed. They also somehow convinced the butler to come with them as well and proceeded to get in trouble with the town guards causing one of them to get knocked out. It was with the group who first go me into playing DnD and I don’t think I ever played with them again after that (even tho I tried to get a session 2 to happen)

That’s how it goes lol that’s why most of my regions use some major civil war or invasion happening so my party doesn’t feel as railroaded when I tell them the road to the next town has a checkpoint or encampment blocking the way. Even then one time still led to them being imprisoned by a host of foreign Knights when they tried to sneak into a town under siege because they wanted to go to the tavern there lmao.
