I will be playing game 2 of a new campaign. I’m a female Goliath Barbarian. I’m still newish to the game. I want to play it right. Any advice to become a badass Barbarian? Do I rage at the start of every combat? I appreciate any advice ya’ll can give.

As a regular goliath barbarian poster here, I second commenter #1, but on the roleplay side of things, determine what your character’s rage looks like. It can absolutely be wild anger, but it doesn’t have to be. My girl’s rage looks more like a feral glee. It’s very primal, but there’s not really malice behind it. I love the rage ability so much and it can be a really interesting part of your character!

Rage at the start of every combat and use reckless attack every single time lol

It depends - at low levels I would save the rage for “big fights” especially if you fight a lot without time for long rests. Rage management is super important, because without it you’re basically a shittier fighter

Thanks! That’s what I did our first game. I just wanted to make sure I was doing it right.

Yes, that’s what a barb all is about, attacking, and calling the enemies attention. With reckless attack you get advantage to hit, and it doesn’t matter that they get advantage on you, you have the highest HP and with rage you half the damage.

And goliaths are awesome because what’s not to like about being tall and buff and narratively being able to pick up all your friends

OH and if you want to be EXTRA extra tanky, the Tough feat is AMAZING

This is true, you have to flavor it how you would want it to be, my tabaxi barbarian’s rage is kind of like a mink’s sulong form from One Piece

AAAAA she’s gorgeous. The hair, the bows, and idk if that’s a HUGE morningstar or a spiked maul but either way 🤌 spectacular. Also, hell yeah, rune knight is my favorite fighter subclass.

I’ve never made a rune knight, and I think it merges perfectly cause it’s a very barbarian-like subclass.

I was toying with multiclassing mine too. I’ve yet to do that. I just don’t know in what yet. I figured I’d wait to see how the game takes me.
