Beginner here :) I really want to get into D&D but there’s so much info and moving parts and I’m not sure where to start so it’s not so overwhelming, any advice?

try to find an online pdf of the player’s handbook and just give it a read! esp the new one gives you what you need to know pretty intuitively

Jocat’s ‘Crapguide’ series synthesizes the spirit of some big topics regarding character creation like the Character Sheet and classes. You can use that for a start. But, in my head, once I got my head around proficiency and Stats, everything else came quickly

If you know ppl who meet up and play, try sitting in on a session and watch. That’ll give you a good idea of what happens and how ppl play (spoiler, none of us know what we’re doing)

if you feel like you don’t understand how a game actually works, i would recommend watching youtube campaigns and seeing how they usually flow! a lot of times you learn the mechanics through playing

Very true, once you understand the character sheet then you know where to look when you’re asked to do things (for the most part anyway)

This is awesome! I was just wondering how I could learn the game play itself especially when I don’t time to actually go and observe how it’s played
