Okay step by step: 1) drink some bourbon 2) watch first couple episodes of Mad Men 3) order everything you see and become Don Draper

Hey babe! Get a painting or art for over the couch. Add a semi sheet curtain over the blinds on each side to soften it

Honestly this is a great blank slate, the layout and furniture are solid, it just needs some personality layered in. Color will make a huge difference. I’d start with throw pillows and a throw blanket on the couch in a couple intentional colors (pick 1 main color and 1 accent so it doesn’t feel random). That alone will warm the space up a lot.

Plants (they don’t even have to be real) and an area rug for zoning purposes

stained glass wallpaper for your windows if you’re into it! when light/sun comes through it’ll make your whole living room bright and colorful

Some led lights and a couple of art pieces above the couch and I think you’ll be good

art/posters and another lamp but a small orange one and some sort of centerpiece maybe on the coffe table and a plant in the empty corner (look up some easy care/lowlight ones)

Go to local thrift stores (including goodwill and goodwill bins if you’ve got them) and see if there are any cool trinkets/interesting furniture pieces you enjoy! That’s how I’ve found all my decor and it makes your space feel so much homier :-))

Next, I’d definitely add more wall art, especially something larger. The walls are pretty bare right now, so either one big statement piece above the couch or a small gallery wall with framed prints would add color and make it feel more finished. A rug under the coffee table would also help a ton. Even though the carpet is neutral, a patterned rug adds texture and breaks up all the gray/black. It’ll make the room feel more “designed” instead of just furnished.

If you’re open to it, add a plant (real or fake), maybe a taller one in the corner by the lamp. Green adds life and works with almost any color palette. Lastly, a little styling on the coffee table and TV stand (books, a tray, candle, or small decor pieces) can add personality without clutter. Overall you’re really close, just layer in color, texture, and a few personal touches and it’ll feel way more cozy and intentional.
