Ngl I never understood the big deal about year merch like why do you need to know what year you bought it (not including like anniversary/graduation merch)

I would say the target demographic for year merch is families who come to Disney world maybe once every few years, or only once. The year of the trip means a lot more if you’re only going a few times in your life or once ever. My family didn’t think we’d become regulars so on our first trip we bought a couple things that said 2011. It’s like a badge of honor now: “I was in the parks 14 whole years ago!” And you think about how different and long ago that was
