
Yeah mold growth is halted when frozen, but unlike bacteria and parasites it’s not killed. If food is already contaminated, either the contaminated section should be cut off (harder foods) or it should fully be disposed of (soft foods), freezing doesn’t help at all. Before freezing it, whoever was responsible for this could’ve just cleaned the visible mold off, making it look fine even though there’s still mycelium rooted throughout, then put it in the freezer
