First time she saw it blowing up in TikTok after the Starbucks drink (that I agree tastes nothing like ube) she got so mad that they pronounced it “oob”. All this to say the ube you’re seeing commodified is a recent trend and most forms you’ll find it in don’t do true traditional Filipino desserts any justice.
