My neutral thoughts: Soldiers are seen as politically neutral. Hence why during the actual speech you do not see generals clapping as they are supposed to remain politically neutral. But, for politicians no matter what party and whether or not you agree with what was done you should give respect to any and all soldiers and veterans.

Think of it like this, if you vote democrat and disagree with what the Trump administration has done…it would reflect poorly on those you voted for. Hence why they do not stand neither cheer for this administration. I have no issues with holding a political stance djsregarding whatever party you affiliate with
