studies show that covering your cough doesn’t actually stop any particles from spreading. it’s still good manners tho. if you’re worried about people coughing on you id recommend n95 or kn95 masks that fit with a tight seal

Could you tell me what studies? I find this fascinating. Not to be condescending but I genuinely can’t imagine how coughing into your elbow vs coughing out into the air spreads the same amount of particles.

coughing into your shirt was found to be more effective. but nothing is more effective than respirator masks and increased ventilation, and air filtration. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3846148/
