Because it’s not the kind of thing that can be fully understood by simply explaining it. They can’t see inside your mind or see exactly what you saw/see. And the burden of translation is on you, the victim, so it’s hard I bet. Plus, y’know, socialized differences in dealing with trauma (men usually relatively on their own, women usually with friends/support network). All this creates a bit of a disconnect, I’d say. Besides the obvious elephant in the room involving statistics, that is.
