When yikyak was created, it was location-based only. There were no ‘global’ communities. A huge age range of people used it and it was awesome. Gatekeeping public, free apps is weird.

Also u gotta consider the demographics and who the app is targeted to. For example Roblox anyone can use the app but typically its kids that are playing on it.
