I feel a large part of it is people never having seen it happen and the screen people telling them it doesn’t happen.

it works both ways tho too. like i’m a white girl and i feel judged all the time for doing “basic white girl” things. like it genuinely hurts because that’s jus how i am and i feel judged for it. i know that it’s not even close to what others experience, but it makes me feel like shit being judged for the things that i like.

she’s getting there tbh—understanding and being able to empathize with being stereotyped, even if not nearly to the same extent as others, is one step closer to understanding the discrimination and harm it’s caused others 🙏
