i dont think its for college students anymore. u dont need a college email to be on here. lowkey i think yak just rely on collecting college email addresses for an age screening system which is kinda smart but not infallible.

fun fact, sidechat is for college students, acquired yy in 2023, integrating both apps together so now you don’t need a college to use either app but sidechat was so popular among universities and so was yy and it was yy that made it so everyone can use it because sidechat you had to login with your college email
