Sounds like he’s at least interested, making a safe move on him could be a good idea. Ask him if he wants to study together and choose a private spot for it since you share a class maybe? To get physically close and talk instead of just studying obvi

this would be smart but we’re in university 101 together so we don’t really have things to study 😭 but that’s also the class that we’re both in the same group for our project
