Yeah, I know Uncut Gems also didn’t have a crazy poster but that one was striking enough to work instead of “literally just a picture of Timothee Chalamet”

Honestly I don’t think the shot itself is terrible the problem is that it’s so uninteresting, especially compared to the previous two Safdie flicks

Not counting The Smashing Machine which also didn’t have a very interesting poster but at least in that one you could tell that the movie was going to involve some fighting

for me the issue with the composition is how it makes his proportions look wonky at a distance, like the way his body is framed gives the illusion of his upper arms being disproportionately massive and his torso being twig-like. just awkward visual language imo

my only familiarity with the Safdies though is The Curse so I’m not really looking at the poster through the lens of what their filmography is like

Their movies tend to be comedies of errors that are very tense, I’ve only ever watched Uncut Gems but that movie had me on the edge of my seat it was so good

ugh see that kind of thing is So hit-and-miss for me that it tends to either become my new favorite or leave me genuinely pissed lmao, and I got the impression Uncut Gems would likely be the latter so I skipped it. makes sense though that those guys would work so well with Nathan Fielder if that’s their niche, The Curse was fuckin killer

(tbh Nathan Fielder used to really rub me the wrong way too but I warmed up to him after watching that and The Rehearsal)

Yeah fair Uncut Gems is definitely one of those love it or hate it movies, can’t comment on Marty Supreme or Good Time though
