backlash against backlash against backlash over the span of a century while cultural memory repeatedly loses sight of the failures that played out just two cycles prior. makes me feel kinda insane to look at

Hi OP, many miss the cycle you cited and what Charlie Kirk was really about. He rode a popular wave of discontent and basically was after the social issues to form a hard right youth to later become the model citizen as the hard right seeks power.

please note what I said about “losing sight of the failures from two cycles prior” 😭 2010s sex-positivity ended up being misappropriated by opportunistic predators to the extent that it actually inadvertently reinforced aspects of rape culture I’m pretty sure a carefully nuanced non-reactionary middle ground is the only way forward

like, to be clear I'm pretty "sex-positive" by definition myself, but an ethos of “just get out there and fuck indiscriminately! don't be so hung up on boundaries!" is dangerous

I could not possibly be any less interested in the perspective of someone who saw this post and felt inspired to yap about a dead fascist in response
