People really don’t know what fascist actually mean don’t go around throwing that word around fascism is completely authoritarian rule, elimination of free elections, suppression of other political parties. Have elections stopped, is there still other political parties we are still a constitutional republic. Not saying I like trump cause I don’t but we can’t be throwing that word around. Examples of fascism is Mussolini and Hitler who both committed genocides and killed people who opposed them
Politics is no longer about politics and it’s sad. It’s either you are right or left. And everyone is so busy doing their hardest to put the other down and try to be right. Everyone asks what’s going wrong with the world it’s that. We have stopped working together as a people and focused on breaking eachother apart. And this post proves it. Now the rights are just as bad as the lefts. But it’s still sad to see.
You know a good historical case study is 1930s Spain with Franco. It isn’t just the US seeing the rise of the hard right. Europe has it too. The hard right back then only lasted some decades but that was because the nations got into debt that gave opportunity for politicians of the left with social programs and spending. This is why the hard right today will seek to erase the debt to secure power.
Basically this isn’t some typical political cycle 8 years from right to left but once a 100 years super cycle of nations getting into debt with opposing ideas how to run society that boondoggles and oligarchy pocketed the money. The people are disenfranchised that the hard right is selling to. What they sell is tariffs, immigration reform, erasing the debt to bring back buying power, and nationalism.
I did not say that. I said they’re either “fascist, a white supremacist, a Christian nationalist, a billionaire, a billionaire supporter, lack critical thinking skills, or are in a cult (of personality)” all of which is true. You can support some of his policies I guess, but if you support those policies despite the provable harm he is doing to our country, then you lack critical thinking skills, or are in a cult. It’s not about putting people in a box, it’s about challenging people to think
okay you just restated what I said…. of course I don’t support all of his policies and things he’s doing but you explicitly stated that if you support trump (very broad), you are “(fill in the blank).” that’s too easy to say coming from someone telling people to use “critical thinking.”
You didn’t say any of it. You copied and pasted it from some other whiny fucktard’s social, who stole it from some other whiny fucktard, and so on until you trace it back to the Russian bot that originally posted it. It doesn’t say anything. It’s just “my team lost” redux part 1 billion.
So lemme get this straight, you’re saying you asked family and peers and they said they were fascist? Are you sure your degree isn’t in lying through your ass? I have a poli sci degree too, among others, and this is a bumper sticker that says nothing that you stole from some other moron. If it were actually your work, you’d be embarrassed.
It would work if I didn’t read all major news channels, as well as Republican and leftist YouTubers. As well as what our own government says. I read a lot. I have critical thinking skills. I’m not in a cult because I dont have a political leader, and even if I did, I don’t put their face on the justice department building. Or name laws after my leader. You resorted to name calling which means you’re either #3 or 4 or both
Because it’s basically all you have in a world where no one likes you? That’s valid. Well I guess keep it to prevent the darkness from creeping in, just realize that no one will ever like you or take you seriously if they ever hear you talk or read anything you’ve written. So do with that what you will, guy who could only make friends with a self-identified fascist.
So say there’s a hypothetical president talking about canceling midterm elections, threatening states to release sensitive voter information, actively disenfranchising millions of voters, tried to overturn an election through an insurrection after they lost, continues to deny election results, sends in the national guard for people peacefully protesting, has a state secret police executing people, etc. Again, this is all hypothetical. Would you consider this hypothetical president a fascist?
Is there any rational basis for any of these actions? Like have a lot of state election officials been arrested for chicanery? Context matters. Let’s say there was a hypothetical president that used drone strikes to kill US citizens abroad without Congressional authorization. Would that hypothetical president be a fascist?
1. No, there’s no basis for any of these things. They are fundamentally fascist and moves to gain power and support. Context does not matter when the leader of the country is literally violating the constitution to serve their own interests. 2. Yes, using drone strikes to kill citizens abroad is absolutely fascist. Sorry, you won’t have the ‘gotcha’ moment you so desperately want. Some of us condemn war crimes regardless of who is in office.
Was I mad when Obama did it? I don’t know, fellow college student. Do you think I was mad about foreign policy when I was in fucking elementary school? I swear to god right wingers have literally no critical thinking skills. Yeah, no shit I didn’t criticize Obama at the time because I was a fucking child. I don’t condone his actions now in retrospect because I’m an educated adult. I feel like this is basic civics.
Did you read my fucking post you incoherent fuck? I am NOT a trump supporter/voter, I’m not a MAGA bandwagon guy. There’s things I dislike about policies he’s implemented, people he’s chosen to run certain things, not to mention how I abhor how he treats people. The thing is, I actually CAN think critically and recognize when there are things he does that actually benefit the nation. You on the other hand, have two brain cells and they’re both fighting for third place.
Fuck I typed out a whole response and yy crashed. Abridged version: I agree with you on some of those issues, like bombing drug boats. Not a fan. I don’t believe it’s a “war crime” like many cry, but I don’t like it. See, there are things specifically I don’t like or whatever but I don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater, and can recognize when there are overall benefits.
So what you’re saying is that you’re basically a young adult with a big load of idealism and zero life experience. That’s all you had to say. You dislike violence and haven’t yet reached the realization that it’s necessary at times, and you believe the world began when you turned 18. Very normal and almost always grown out of.
How is that at all what they are saying. They said at the TIME they couldn’t form nuanced opinions but now with life experience and education they can say that any standards they have for Trump they are comfortable applying to Obama. They dislike trump and needless violence the same way they condemn Obama for his role in it
This. They don’t realize they are also actively downplaying what fascism really is. And then the classic “but they’re moving towards fascism” okay sure, but your claim wasn’t that they are close to fascism, you said “Trump IS fascist”. It’s just a buzzword now and it’s losing meaning. Ultimately this downplays the holocaust and the atrocities of WW2. We can find better ways of arguing against Trump than using a buzzword.
Not a Trump supporter but you understand the irony of talking about not having an original thought when I’d bet quite a bit of money you completely and totally align with the democrat party. Also, nonsensical name calling is not an argument, it’s a logical fallacy called an Ad Hominem, take an argumentation class or something.
#2 you’re arguing with radical leftists, they cannot comprehend a moderate, such as 80% of our country is. They’ve been so locked up in echo chambers that the thought of someone who disagrees with them stirs up hatred. It’s funny because the radical MAGAs they hate so much act exactly the same as them, just on the other side of the coin.
If you look at the numbers, the schools in the U.S. that spend the most money have to worst outcomes. It’s pretty shallow thinking to always default to “Problem; throw other people’s money at it.” That’s how you get several trillion dollars in debt and still have high school graduates that can’t read.
Ah that must be why the Nazis tried to formalize standardize and control education — education can be bad and indoctrinating. “Further their nationalist agenda” not controlling education can’t lead to a nationalist agenda else you’re admitting nationalism and fascism are innate feelings cultivated without education, what are you saying? That fascism is the innate human impulse and we have to educate people out of it? Even Robert Paxton, forefront of fascist studies admits, it defies definition
That. . . makes no sense. Uneducated people are less likely to bend towards fascism. That’s why Mussolini seized the Italian education system and made it free and compulsory. He made what could be called a “department of education” to indoctrinate students into fascism, because it’s not a natural tendency.
