My bf and I were on Overwatch, he got upset in silver-gold tank competitive at an Anran on our team and said “anran, I’m gonna r*pe you” out of anger, leaving me speechless. I’m an SA victim. Should I leave him for this? It scared me badly. :(

Who says something like that over a video game. That’s messed up.

You have to leave him. But do it safely. That is insane to say

I rage at games all the time but I don’t say shit like that. It’s like people who drop slurs when they’re gaming. It shows your values that that’s something you’d joke about or “let slip”.

Get away. I dated a guy like this and it was funny until it wasn’t a joke anymore. Protect yourself! ❤️

He said he’d been in a rough place ig due to lack of socialization being at may term by himself and having just had food surgery. Not sure if it excuses it

He can be having a really bad time but that doesn’t just make you develop new vocabulary. He probably likes memes like that watches other gamers who say that stuff. It’s such a shitty online sense of humor that he’s likely consuming.

Man idk we’ve been together 9 months and it’s the first time he’s said anything like it

I’m sure that’s true. He definitely knows better than to make those jokes with you. But I would bet when he games with his friends he says that shit. It’s definitely not the first time and if you don’t do something it won’t be the last time he says it.

That’s not an excuse. Men don’t joke, they push boundaries to see what you’re okay with. You need to leave him before something happens to you. Good people don’t joke about stuff like that!

I see where you’re coming from, naturally we want to hear our partners out, but honestly if it comes that naturally out of anger, he probably says those things frequently when you’re not around. 9 months feels like a long time, but don’t let yourself get into sunken-cost fallacies. Love is out there for you, and you will find someone with aligning morals. I’ve been with people who have done this same exact thing. You’re so deserving of a gentle lover who uses kind words.
