My partner is becoming more reliant on alcohol and substances (while I’m sober) and they can’t go a night without a group of people. I have an out of state internship so we’re long distance and they haven’t asked if we could call even once. I hate it

i wouldn't be so hasty :( i feel like if op can get their partner any help or anything and try to support them on a better path then they should do that first, but definitely if it's too much emotionally and/or the behavior escalates even further without any effort to improve...definitely move on, yeah

Yeah. Maybe it’s naive but I don’t want to abandon them. I’m going to talk to them, and if no progress is made then maybe it’s time :/
