That in itself is close minded though. Some of my best friends are on the extreme opposite side of the political spectrum from me but we chill with it. Like I’m a Conservative Christian but one of my most reliable homies is a non binary atheist.

I understand stand having boundaries about hateful behavior but that is different from declaring an entire category of people unworthy of friendship because they hold a particular political position.

Doesn’t that mean you have close minded views if you also refuse to consider other ideas? Just pointing out the hypocrisy 👍✌️

i already have conservative and religious friends already. but in this political climate i want more likeminded people around me. but im no longer interested in sitting there with a straight face when they talk about whether or not gay people are 'sick' or sinful . i want more friends like me and thats fine

do you honestly think you have reason to worry about being arrested, in any part of the US, for your conservative politics or your christian faith? or can we agree that, since abortion has been criminalized in some states, this is a nonsensical comparison

There’s the hypocrisy of your statement, saying you are unwilling to listen to other opinions, but I get it also sometimes have the the same issue when listening to the left but I still listen and try to understand 👍🫡. Have a great day tho

i dont care about being hypocritical. its OK to not wanna around people who want to take away ur rights. many conservatives ive met advocate against womens right to vote & holding positions of power, taking away the ability to get abortions, pro abortion surveillance, homophobic..... please fucking spare me 💀🙏😭. theres some things that i am fine with disagreeing on but human rights will NOT be one of them

its fine to not want an abortion for yourself, but i refuse to be anything more than cordial acquaintances with anyone who wants to take away the option to get one for EVERYBODY.

jokes are fine, i like offensive humor but if somebody ACTUALLY deep down believes that women are beneath men/ abortion should be illegal/ etc etc etc, i dont want to be near them

Not for my abortion stance, no. But I could arrested in some places over firearms. It’s also quite common for Liberals and Muslims to kill Christians and Conservatives. And don’t deny it, we just had the anniversaries of both Kirk’s murder and the 9/11 attacks. Every group of people is hated by some other group of people. That isn’t an excuse to feed into it.

The women thing is one thing, most people agree that’s bad nowadays, but abortion is still a hotly debated topic and a lot of people just believe what their parents taught them. According to Gallup only 53% of Americans are pro choice, so you’re choosing to be enemies with about half the country.

you seem to be struggling with this, so I’ll break it down for you—OP was talking about not being friends with people who don’t support abortion. if OP needs an abortion at some point in their life, friendship with someone who’s fervently anti-abortion could potentially put them in danger due to criminalization. you on the other hand are not in any legal danger whatsoever by nature of befriending a nonbinary atheist as a conservative christian

(not even gonna dignify those strawman arguments or the bizarre Islamophobia by taking the time to argue with them in earnest, cause if you’re that far gone then I doubt there’s much progress to be made by trying to reason with you as a stranger)
