Just moved back in with my parents; my dad keeps doing this thing where I’ll tell him something and he disregards it, just to mention/validate it after speaking to a man about it. Like… did I not say that last week??

My daughter just moved back in and she’s doing that thing where she assumes that every perceived slight is a gender thing

It’s not on purpose but u may be exhibiting subconscious traits rooted in sexism that have been normalized over generations and it’s not even like you are meaning to or think of it that way. I think she really loves you and trusts you as her dad if she’s coming to you with this

Ohhhh well it’s natural for dad to be hurt and to get defensive but she’s coming to her dad as her safe person

No, like this is something that’s been CONSISTENT. If it was a one-off thing, I’d understand that I’m probably looking too closely at it, but it’s hurtful at this point. He’ll openly criticize my opinion and then come back with a similar/the same viewpoint that he previously dismissed, usually after having had a conversation with/seeing a post on social media made by a man. Genuinely asking, if it’s not a gender thing, why does it happen?
