Sounds like you were conditioned to be judgmental because everyone was judgmental of you growing up. I think most people are there to have fun, and aren’t too concerned with their own clothing. You are allowed to be pissed off, but I don’t think they are putting nearly as much thought into it as you are

Because if I’m going to take time out of my evening and money from my bank account for a nice place where there is essentially a dress code, then see someone in my group completely disregard the efforts of everyone else, i’m going to be a bit ticked off

No you’re so good, I think it’s just another case of your environment and that’s not like a hit I promise. I was raised in like a country club community so showing up and looking your best mattered so much growing up so it’s like engraved in my mind and is my norm
