This went down in France and he came out alive because both of them didn’t want to die so they slowly backed away from eachother and ran

That’s a crazy prisoners’ dilemma. Does he remember what gave him the idea that the German guy wasn’t a threat?

Well he’s dead and has been dead I’ve never met him. But I have a good idea they both thought the other was a threat.

Makes sense! I just can’t imagine how I’d communicate to an enemy combatant (who likely didn’t speak my language) that I wouldn’t hurt him if he didn’t hurt me.

It is crazy but they probably didn’t need to communicate they were both terrified
