Hate it about as much as hookup culture

There’s good and bad to both extremes but I much rather have a purity culture than a hu culture

Imo „purity culture” isn’t THAT awful. But I absolutely hate how it’s been fetishized. „I want a girl whos pure and virgin” for me seems more so you like the idea of making her „unpure” as opposed to both sharing your first intimate moment together.

i think the harm of purity culture outweighs the harm of hookup culture but i respect your perspective, i just dont think there’s much good that can come from either

THAT? THATS WHY? Not like, purity cultures thing of not having to see peoples freakness in the streets and instead in the sheets

Ah, yes, because having less education about the body and STIs/STDs and pregnancy is so much better than knowing these things and having multiple, consensual partners. 🤦🏻‍♀️

You lowkey made a really great point. Liberation allows for education of intercourse to be taught more often. I don’t like all aspects of purity culture. But telling individuals that they’re immature for not wanting to be in a relationship with someone whose sexual lifestyle is more frequent and intense than theirs is odd.

no, you wouldn’t. purity culture is why women in other countries are forced to stay inside unless they leave the house with a male escort. purity culture is why abortion is getting outlawed in places. purity culture is why we have less and less sex ed.

I think this is a touch overstepping, to me purity culture is valuing relationships over quick and easy sex. I agree abortion should be allowed and sex ed should be taught, but I think the hypersexual nature of today’s society and world devalues women just as much and if not more than it’s counter part.

Food for thought, would you rather be desired primarily for your body, or valued as a whole person? If it’s the second, do you think today’s hookup culture makes that more common or less common?

No. There are women who can’t go outside without a male escort. It’s always been this bad, and if you don’t think so, you should research.
