what are his hobbies? is he someone who would like practical gifts more or aesthetic/novelty gifts? does he like experiences more (including food gifts bc those are temporary) or physical gifts? just some questions to ask yourself when ideating

maybe you could see a movie together ?? or go on a nice outing, maybe something athletic but fun like ice/roller skating or to a trampoline park or rage room or something if that’s why he likes sports. if someone doesn’t want anything i tend to think experiences are good bc if they don’t like it they don’t have to keep it AND it’s you two spending time together and you already know he likes you, so there’s a win! if he has a favorite sweet treat or something that’s also often a hit
