Depends on the type of cake I’ve found. Some genuinely have this magical texture that just melts when cold that’s amazing (usually heavy butter recipes like pound cake) while velvets are best room temp. But nothing beats a fresh from the oven cake

Idk if this will resonate but my favorite is a cake made the night before and it sits in the dessert stand for a day and gets extra moist it’s incredible.

see if argue this would directly apply to the icing used. cake. yes way better non refrigerated. but with the right kind of icing… the fridge takes it from an alright time, to an orgasmic experience
