i think you are confusing preference and fetish. fetishizing latinas is not normalized but the preference of latinas is common (maybe more common than before not sure) but that is different from a fetish

i’m not saying fetishizing doesn’t exist, but it’s definitely not normalized. you go around and talk about your latina fetish or asian fetish and tell me how indifferent people react because it is so “normal” preference is normalized though, you can have preference with no reaction. having a race fetish is still looked at as not normal. but hey maybe in #2 and #3’s circle they see this as normal. but society as a whole has not normalized that

The people who fetishize Latina and Asian women etc don’t explicitly call it a fetish lol

yeah because if they did they would be looked at as weirdos. you are further proving my point that it is not normalized

however people with preferences do state their preferences because preferences on the other hand is normalized

Something can be normalized without everyone on the planet agreeing it’s right

right normalized doesn’t mean everyone agrees. it means you can say it openly without social penalty. people openly state racial preferences all the time and it’s largely accepted. people do not openly state race fetishes without being seen as weird or problematic. that difference is exactly why preference is normalized and fetish is not.

plenty of things are common but not normalized. cheating in relationships happens a lot, but it’s still socially condemned and people don’t openly identify as cheaters. frequency alone doesn’t equal normalization.
