Evopsych is extreme inference based on extreme inference, with no way of checking your results or verifying your assumptions. It’s massive claims about human nature wrapped in scientific language. It’s conclusions often align with historical power structures and the inequalities they enforced, so it ends up in circular reasoning regularly. That’s besides the main topic, tho

So in short - no, they aren’t the same thing. Evopsych is not exactly a valid method of analysis, but it isn’t exactly pseudoscience in that it’s more categorized as questionable research practice. It produces some valid results.
