Hot take some christians might not like. Saying Happy Holidays is the same as using Ms. because you aren’t sure if a woman is married. It’s out of respect.

Everyone thinks we say happy holidays because we hate Christmas but I just want people to have fun celebrating whatever they want, including Christmas

Is there still backlash about “happy holidays” I thought the people who were mad about that moved on to some other moral outrage lol

another hot take that western Romanian christians won’t like. Jesus’s birthday, is in January. this whole christmas thing makes me disgusted how ignorant they are to his conception just for an aesthetic holiday. Roman calendars are the only ones that lined up being March 25th, no other calendar. It’s proven his conception is April 3rd, 6th or 7th. So his birth is January 3rd, 6th or 7th. They just don’t wanna be bothered and change the date of christmas. Genuine rubbish.

Idk why this was specifically targeted at Christian’s but yes saying happy holidays is simply a courtesy. Not everyone celebrates Christmas as there are like two more holidays happening simultaneously around this time

I say merry Christmas because literally on every calendar it says Christmas and it’s one of the most popular national holidays, even on the non religious world

As a teacher I make small holiday gifts for all my students every year and ive had to change how i do them bc some parents cant handle their child getting a gift that says happy holidays instead of merry christmas 💀 god forbid i keep my classroom inclusive ig, its more common than people realize

This is what i do now, or if we have room for an extra fun day ill ask what everyone celebrates and make more curated activities and cards but sometimes there really just isnt time to be as personal as id like

Yeah. It’s like how many people go around saying Happy Hanukkah? I haven’t ever heard one person say it in my experience. If someone can say Merry Christmas then someone can say Happy Hanukkah. As long as something does infringe on you or the holiday isn’t hateful/violent then you have no right to tell them what they can’t celebrate.

I mean I feel that but for Easter as a Christian We don’t 100% know the date but at least Christmas is consistent. With Easter I get so annoyed with the switching of the dates because it’s like are we just randomly guessing here?😂

trueeee trueee, i feel like dates r rubbish in themselves as they just give us years and we have to fit it in a timeline and when humans already have a pattern, and oh shoot one thing is wrong, change a date, no one wanna leave the pattern they are in

I think someone blocked me but I was going to say to them that A holiday being a set Sunday every month is the definition of random. Both Easter and Christmas are to mark a special event in Christianity. Why do we keep the 25th for Christmas but not a specific date for Easter😂 Again both are supposed to be dates when something happened…..yet we change the date😂

Yeah. I’m fairly new to Christianity but it’s things like these that confuse me😂 To me you would want the true date. Not a date that changes every year😂. That’s why I like Christmas because its a “Oh it’s on the 25th” and I know that every year 100% guaranteed Rather than a oh I don’t know what specific date Easter will be on in 10 years. I know it’ll be on a Sunday though.💀

in all honesty, i think moving dates make more sense to me. as calendars now don’t reflect how they were when the books were created. when you have a date that’s set on the number of the sunday, it makes more sense because the moon changes the days. for instance, in islam, we have a whole separate calendar, and we don’t go by the american. that’s why i brought up the other calendars. the reason christmas is a set date is because the went 9 months after the conception of jesus christ, as if a….

when they die, they are conceived. in the roman calendar it says that he was conceived march 25th. so december 25th is a fixed date as prophets are perfect and so it’s 9 months no more no less

Its not random at all! More intricate to calculate yes but not random. A lot of christian holidays are actually pulled from other religions like judaism and paganism. Id recommend looking into the calendars for both!

now, when looking at easter, they didn’t just look at roman calendars, as there was more debate during the time. for christmas, the debate was after the date was chosen, so no matter how much talk, the people have already been used to december 25th

yes, yes, proving my point thank you, the moon is the calendar decider for a lot of holidays but because of the essence of Jesus being in the Perfect Prophet stuff, it specifically is 9 months and not dependent on moon cycles

I’ve even seen agnostics & atheists throw a tantrum over it 😭 there’s definitely some type of bizarre “my experience is the norm and that’s how it SHOULD be, if you dare suggest I should consider other cultures’ practices as equally ‘normal’ then you’re oppressing me!!” entitlement going on there
